IWP ProgramsSummer InstituteThe cornerstone of the Indiana Writing Project is the Summer Invitational Institute held for four weeks during Ball State University's second summer session. The institute brings together nearly twenty educators who teach at the elementary, intermediate, and secondary level. Participants learn from each other ways to improve how writing is taught. Saturday SeminarsSaturday seminars feature teaching demonstrations on the teaching of writing presented by the Teacher-Consultants of the Indiana Writing Project. The seminars are open to all teachers and administrators interested in improving the teaching of writing in their schools. Other ProgramsThe writing project is more than the Summer Institute. The project also sponsors an Advanced Insitute and an annual fall retreat for previous Summer Institute fellows. Former participants are able offer inservices to their peers or other teachers, which brings the benefits of the writing project to the most number of teachers.
