The Open Institute is open to and appropriate for all teachers. Past participants have ranged from kindergarten teachers to high school French instructors. Why Writing WorksJune 23 - June 28, 2008 This workshop will provide an opportunity for teachers in grades K—12 to work collaboratively to explore how the Writing workshop works in classrooms—what it looks like and how to put it into practice. This workshop is for you if you have a desire to reflect on your own practice as a teacher of writing and investigate ways to enhance what you are currently doing in the classroom. During the week you will enter a community of writers, share with other teachers from various backgrounds, experience the writing workshop, delve into the professional literature, and work with others to plan your own writing workshop for the fall.
