THE INDIANA WRITING PROJECT, based at Ball State University, is an organization committed to promoting the best possible writing instruction in Indiana's elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. IWP offers a number of professional development programs by and for teachers. In 2008, IWP will offer its twenty-third Summer Invitational Institute, drawing teachers of writing from across the state.
The Indiana Writing Project, founded in 1986, was Indiana's first affiliate of the National Writing Project. Currently there are five National Writing Project affiliates in Indiana, forming the Indiana Network.
In February, both houses of the Indiana legislature passed a resolution commending the Indiana Writing Project for our work in improving student performance in writing.
